FUN THINGS TO DO
  • Cascade Recycling Center tour - Located in Woodinville, this tour provides an opportunity for getting your recycling questions answered as well as see the plant in action.
  • Cedar River Watershed tour - This 3 hour interpretive journey by bus and by foot into the 91,339-acre protected watershed (which is closed to unauthorized public access) is an unparalleled opportunity to experience a very special place. Join Seattle Public Utilities naturalists during the summer for a unique tour of the Cedar River watershed, the source of 70 percent of the Seattle area's drinking water.
  • Issaquah Salmon Hatchery - Every fall the salmon return to Issaquah. And so, too, do thousands of young students, who come to see these magnificent fish return from their grueling journey at sea, to fight against the current and spawn in Issaquah Creek.
  • Mountains to the Sound Greenway Trust - plant trees, remove invasive plant species, stream restoration, trail maintenance.
  • West Point Treatment Plant - Tour one of King County's regional wastewater treatment plants. Learn how wastewater is treated and reclaimed, biosolids are created and energy is recovered. Find out how wastewater treatment protects public health and the environment and--how individuals can help protect water quality every day.

Their aim is to promote better understanding of environmental, social and economic issues in the Pacific Northwest and to improve the quality of information, news and analysis available to opinion leaders, decision-makers, citizens and consumers throughout the region.
SUSTAINABILITY TRANSPORTATION
  • Flexcar - Founded in 1999 as a public/private partnership supported by King County, Washington and the City of Seattle, Flexcar launched its Seattle operations in 2000 with a vision to establish a nationwide network of vehicles, conveniently distributed throughout every major metropolitan area, so that members can avoid the cost of car ownership, but still have instant access to a car wherever and whenever they need one.
  • Metro King County - bus and rideshare options.
  • Sound Transit - created by the state legislature to build a mass transit system that connects regional employment and population centers in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. The agency was legally formed in 1993, when the Councils in the three counties voted to participate in the authority.
  • Transportation Choices Coalition - seeks to bring Washingtonians more and better transportation choices -- real opportunities to take a bus, take a train, ride a bike, or walk -- as well as drive alone.
